Yu-Gi-Oh!

Spellcasters

Ah, Spellcasters.  The Monster type that everyone seems to think is just barely on the edge of playable.  Well, I'm here today to prove that Spellcasters can be a dominating deck that can deal with the best of decks with relative ease.  Observe.

This deck serves many purposes.  It can bring out its high-level Monsters with ease, and can control the board with Monster and Spell/Trap destruction.  It also has an element of swarm and can easily play defensively.  The card breakdown is as follows:

Skilled Dark Magician: A 1900 beatstick that fetches Dark Magician?  Yes, please.  Spellcasters seem to be aggro-oriented, and he fits the bill perfectly.

Gravekeeper's Spy: He helps provide the swarm that the deck can use for attacking or Tributing, and is also a respectable 2000 DEF wall.

Gravekeeper's Guard: I don't care what anyone ese says, sending your opponent's Tribute Monster back to their hand is good.  It always has been and always will be.  He also has a big butt, weighing in at 1900 DEF.

Apprentice Magician: He also provides a minor swarm mechanic, and can fetch one of the better Monster controlling cards, Old Vindictive Magician.  More on that later.  Also, if need be, he can put a Spell counter on Skilled Dark Magician or Breaker.  As you can tell, I like cards with more than one purpose.  That's synergy, my friends.

Old Vindictive Magician: A Man-Eater Bug that Apprentice Magician can bring to the field means good Monster control.  There's an element of psychology here too, since your opponent will know not to attack it and will have to rethink his or her strategy.

Magician of Faith: Another fantastic Spellcaster.  She's a game-changer, as the Spell cards in this deck are lethal.  Being able to use them one more time can win you the duel.

Tsukuyomi: Like many other cards in this deck, Tsukuyomi serves multiple purposes.  He (yes ,Tsukuyomi is a guy) can flip your opponent's Monsters facedown to kill them with a big Monster.  Conversly, he can be used to flip your Magician of Faith or Old Vindictive Magician facedown to be reused.  Once is bad enough, but using these nasty flip cards more than once is just sick.

Injection Fairy Lily: Lily can be grabbed from the deck a number of ways, and under the right circumstances can end the game.  No one likes to be hit in the face for 3400 damage.

Sangan: Standard tech.  Searchablility is always welcome.

Breaker the Magical Warrior: A Spellcaster that provides much-needed Spell/Trap control.  Plus, he can also be a 1900 ATK Monster, if you're willing to forego the destroying part.

Dark Magician: The requisite big Spellcaster.  The number of ways he can be searched out and brought to the field dictates that he be played, and in multiples.

Dark Magician of Chaos: The other big Spellcaster.  His effects border on broken, and all in a 2800 ATK frame.  His drawback is minor, and the benefits are enormous.

Magical Dimension: This card must be run in threes in a Spellcaster deck.  It's just that simple.  At the mere pittance of one of your small Monsters, you can bring out a huge Spellcaster and destroy your opponent's Monster.

Other Spells: Pretty typical stuff.  Last Will is in there to search out Lily or any other small Spellcaster that may be needed.

Dust Tornado: Some people will question this being run in threes.  I say every bit of Spell/Trap destruction counts, and this is one of the best.

Sakuretsu Armor, Mirror Force, Call of the Haunted, Torrential Tribute: Standard tech.

Ready for Intercepting: Many props to Pharaoh_Atem of the Pojo forums for turning me on to this little gem.  This beauty of a card can be played many ways.  It can flip any of your Spellcasters facedown, either to reuse their flip effects or to prevent your Spellcaster from being targeted.  Conversely, if your opponent has Spellcasters or Warriors in play, this card can function like a Book of Moon.

This deck has been tried and tested and stands up well to even the most competitive of decks.  Try it, you'll like it.  I promise.
